The Need for the Common Ground.

Have you ever wondered why the human species of earth has failed to ever come to an understanding? Don’t you ever get frustrated seeing people defend themselves, whether it be about culture, religion, language or race? Although watching the human race fighting like children about who’s parents earn bigger dough is entertaining in the short run, our future is bound to suffer if we don’t find common ground to stand on soon (and i don’t mean the planet earth for you sarcastic peeps).

For me, it all comes down to a few key common existing components that i believe can bring us truly together.

First, let’s start with ‘COMMUNICATION’. See, i enjoy listening to the diverse languages that planet earth has to offer but let’s face it, we don’t really need this many languages at this point in time. The English language as our prime language must be held with utmost importance for understanding’s sake. And before you start complaining why English, keep in mind that’s just how things are because we’ve let it happen as time went by (although i wished our prime language was french).

Next, we have cultural differences. I grew up in the United Arab Emirates, one of a few economically rich yet culturally challenged countries due to a large number of expats and yet you have never seen a country that celebrates almost all the holidays of each culture. I would contribute that to the open minded leaders who took a chance to ‘UNITE’ all these culturally rich heritages.

Lastly (and this may sound contradictory to my previous statement), there’s the fear that if we lose and pay no respect to our respective country’s history then we would amount to nothing. This is another factor that keeps us from coming together as a human race. We fail to realize that in investing too much time in protecting our history that we’re losing the chance to build a better ‘FUTURE’.

As long as people keep going down the path of separation we’ll never advance as a human race. Remember that we’ve been given the ability to think and that the simple solutions in understanding each other are already in front of us. I urge that we stand together as human beings of planet earth and not be separated anymore. Let’s ‘CHANGE’ the status quo and we may just find something even more interesting together.

I’ve already heard about the Great British Festival happening once a year but I’ve never had the opportunity to visit them because of my conflicting schedule. So when I heard the latest announcement of the British Festival happening in High Street, Bonfiacio Global City from the British Embassy, I immediately took the chance to visit the them last Friday, Feb 24.

It was the first day of the festival so I really wasn’t expecting much yet. Besides the British Embassy business partners, there were already a of stalls set up. From the usual retail products and membership clubs to food stalls all the way at the other side of the high street (of course mostly related to good ol’ Great Britain)

At another part of high street, we found the exotic or sports cars by British Manufacturers all lined up ready for their pictures to be taken.

The first day was off to a good start and I’ve heard there were more exciting party favors during the next 2 days of the event. Check them out at your social media account using #GreatBritishFestival or #TheGreatBritishFestival

Also, check out this video of British Embassy’s summary of the events

Chad’s Modern Fable #2

There’s this young man you see. A typical bachelor enjoying life in the city. He’s doing good at his job, while partying hard at night. I’d also like to add that he’s a lady’s man and knows his way around the female form. Ah yes, he’s never taken any girl seriously to more than a month’s relationship and he’s always kept it that way. I actually don’t know if it’s out of fear of commitment or maybe he’s scared of being tied down. You’d actually think there’s nothing else to write at this point but like any story we need a twist.

Now he meets this girl, who’s completely similar to him. Sexy, single and ready to mingle. What do you think would happen when these two people have one awesome night together and then have a hard time getting over each other? Will they finally be tied down together? Or  will they just leave it as it as is, just one awesome night.

Motto of the story: If you’re expecting more out of this tale then you love drama a lot.

Chad’s Modern Fable #1

There were once two neighbors who have lived together for quite some time in one of those medium scale condominiums in the city. You could say they’ve been pretty good neighbors for a long time before they became best of friends. They would spend a lot of time playing video games together, taking turns attending or hosting each other’s barbecue party, going on double dates and sometimes taking turns being the wing man in the club.

Ah yes, this is the foundation of truly lasting friendships. But, when they find themselves arriving at the mall separately during a busy weekend looking for the last parking space, and then they both spot said parking space together but the other one was just too slow at the curve and then spots his best friend getting down the car just after parking, do you think their ‘strong’ friendship will stand during this unforeseen coincidental battle?

Moral of the story: Friendship cannot stand the test of the last parking space and there will be collateral damage

Finding that ‘Eureka’ moment.

We always enjoy reading about how people successfully achieve their goals, transform businesses and sometimes make the most surprising discoveries that transforms the whole playing field. Most of the time, a lot of people draw motivations from these success stories and try to integrate it into their life by trying to understand exactly what challenges they overcame and why they desired to do what they did.

After reading so many success stories and talking to colleagues who have in their own way reached their goals, I’ve realized that there are so many opportunities to be inspired and most of them can be found in the simplest of ways.

Let’s start of with people. A lot of success stories actually depend on your circle of friends, colleagues or even the family members you interact with. It takes time to build relationships but in the end it will be all worth it if these people help you achieve your goals.

Next let’s go for some alone time. I’m actually a big fan of deep thinking in the showers and most of the bright ideas comes to us while having deep thoughts in the shower.Just look at Archimedes’s history and how he discovered the Archimedes principle while submerged in the bath or better yet why not  ask Warren Buffett, who he dreamt up his $5 billion investment in Bank of America while he was taking a bath. Of course there are lots of other ways to find inspiration by yourself like  travelling and chasing other life changing experiences.

Lastly, let’s try drawing inspiration from  art, music, films and sports. The simplest lines from a movie or book and lyrics from a song tend to hit the exact state of mind that leads to an inspiration for most of us.

Now if you have a hard time believing me why not first try some of these ways yourself and see what I mean. Maybe just maybe you might find your own inspiration along the way.

Cheers and good luck!
